CHAPTER THREE

Early House Conflict

ur Interview stumbles into a Master Teacher meeting when seeking out Watcher, and attempts to place herself among the crowds in the sidelines, looking on to Sabra and a discussion about Dreamer Forge. Not daring to disturb the meeting, she whispers greetings to Watcher.

When you have a moment, I was wondering if I might interview you, and you might share a story from the past with me. I'm trying to put together a history of the dream for an experience task. And it also interests me very much personally.

"Ah, sure. If I can remember any."

Are there any great events from the past that stick in your memory, any that have had a profound effect on the dream? Something you participated in or witnessed?

"Okay, here is a story...I might have told this to someone else too. I believe this happened shortly after Kasumi Keda and I were Knighted the first Guardians of House Dreamers of Light. Valourin, then an Initiate, had been collapsed by the dread Nightmare Horron. He had lost his ID, when he was collapsed.

"A few days later, Smoke became an Initiate of House Calenture. He naturally gave Valourin's ID to House Calenture... Now, earlier, the Light had obtained posession of the Orb of Calenture. Then, we did not know how powerful it really was. So a trade was set up. We would return the Orb to Calenture, and Calenture would give us Valourin's ID.

"Kasumi and myself, and a few Initiates of DoL, met with Calenture in their Mustering Hall. I believe, at that time, their Guardians were Mufassa and Ghea. I do not know if they were there or not. I do remember their Ruler, Kelrith, was there... And we negotiated with him. Unfortunately, I was taken by the Storms several times.

"And my objections to the trade were not heard. Sadly, Kasumi exchanged the Orb with the ID, and it was done."

Ghea of Calenture captured Valourin's wife, Tiger, to bargain for the Orb of Calenture. This is Valourin's account:

"I don't remember exactly what I was doing or where I was, it was a meeting of sorts, maybe a meeting with a lyran... Sabra seems correct... when an HC member came in to deliver a codex to me. It was from Ghea, who at the time was quite mad, making threats about DoL and casting curses that did not work. It said that she had kidnapped Tiger, my pregnant wife at the time, and that she would only be released if we returned the Orb of Calenture and gave them the Dreaming Stone. Mind you we had the Orb, but the only two people in the house knew this, Wraith and myself. After reading the note, I decided on an alternate plan.

"I saw Watcher on the way and told him what happened, he told another and came with em while the other got friends. We went up to HC, taking the shortcut of course, and ran in to find Tiger chained to a wall in their maze. Though it was only two of us, Watcher and I fought I don't remember how many of them, until at one point we had cleared the maze, of course they had a nearby sanctuary and we did not. In the end we were both collapsed, though some other DoL came, some chamele'd others not. I believe this was before anyone had thought of using drain self to force restore. Anyways, Ghea was there of course, and I remember Sn!per, and Tolket, and Dragon. I floated there and listened to her rant and threaten to banish my unborn children with a spell from her book. All the while... perhaps to my shame I don't know, I know in keeping with my oaths, I played some serious tricks with the truth, never lying but being very creative with my words, making it sound like we did not have the Orb without saying it.

"Finally I accepted coherence and no one fired at me as I moved over to my captive wife, checking on her as I think she had passed out. Again Ghea threatened and I stood in front of her and warned her not to even try. As soon as she started to speak from the book I attacked her in front of her entire house. She got the spell off though before I collapsed her, then she went to her sanctuary and regained coherence before waking... I immediately checked on tiger but she did not appear to be pregnant any longer.

"Some HC and some DoL helped work at the chains while the HC members began to have an internal fight over Ghea. Tolket was most vocal against her. After we freed Tiger and got her back to the house, I don't remember much except planning on leaving to see if their tiny souls were in the chaos, and a harrowing experience the details left my mind within days but the children were recovered I know, as one was born and I saw him not too long ago".

This is an early history of Dreamers of Light, written long ago by Guardian Watcher (included with his permision), as a task for Kelrith for a train Plat:
